At the end of last term Year 8 and 9 students from five local Schools attended an exciting collaborative event organised by the REACH partnership. The most recent REACH partnership event is part of a series of activities that focus on the importance of English and Maths in HE level courses and careers.
The event was a collaborative effort from the widening participation and academic staff at University of Leicester, Loughborough University and De Montfort University. This particular event aimed to show students how English and Maths are used in Social Science and Humanities subjects, including, Criminology, Business, Law, Psychology and Sociology.
The five schools in attendance were Hamilton College, Charnwood College, Limehurst Academy, Babington Community College and New College
The event kicked off with an inspiring talk from Dr Rose Griffiths after which students attended a carousel of three different workshops. Throughout the day learners worked with Undergraduate ambassadors from all three universities and had lunch on campus in the students’ union building.
Thank you to the staff and students who took part in a short video of the day, which you can watch below.
