Students spend a day at the University discovering more about life as a student. This activity is delivered in the Spring term, for dates available for this activity please contact DMU directly. The day is split into distinct morning and afternoon sessions. There is an academic focus in the morning where students are introduced to the different teaching and learning styles at undergraduate level and have the opportunity to explore the library and learn more about research and independent study. In the afternoon the focus switches to the extra-curricular side of university life, with an introduction to the concept of university clubs and societies including a tour of the Students’ Union and Leisure Centre. Students then have the opportunity to design their very own university club or society and pitch it to their fellow learners and Student Ambassadors to see which is the most popular! The day focuses on raising awareness and aspirations of students from non-traditional backgrounds by encouraging HE to be considered an option for the future.
This activity is targeted according to Widening Participation criteria, more information is available on under ‘Identifying Your Cohort’ on our How to Book
