Leicester City Council has been working with carers* themselves as well as Leicestershire County Council, Rutland County Council, health organisations and the voluntary sector to develop the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Carers Strategy. This Strategy sets out a local vision for carers which is that,
‘Family members and unpaid carers, including young people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland will be identified early, feel valued and respected. They will receive appropriate support wherever possible to enable them to undertake their caring role, whilst maintaining their own health and wellbeing’.
Leicester City Council is now working on how this strategic vision will be put into practice across the City and would like to hear from young carers and young adult carers on their plans.
Carers Rights Day this year is on Thursday 21st November 2019 and we are inviting you to come and join us for a slice of pizza between 5.30pm and 7.30pm to talk to organisations that can help you to understand your rights as well as tell us what you think to our action plan. Please contact Bez Martin at email@example.com if you would like further information.
We look forward to hearing from you.
