At Loughborough, we understand the time Young Carers spend looking after and thinking about other people. We also recognise that students who have experienced the care system in the UK, or who live with a disability, are statistically less likely to progress into Higher Education due to the additional barriers that they face.
In recognition of this, we are holding a day of fun and exciting activities that will provide a useful insight into University life and the support services available. We are delighted to invite Young Carers, individuals who have experienced the care system, and disabled students from year 7 upwards, aged 11 – 18 years, to join us for our Explore More event.
On the day, there will be the opportunity to take part in an activity run by our award-winning Students’ Union, to try a taster session from one of our undergraduate degree subjects, build transferable skills required for successful studying, and to take part in one of the extra-curricular sports that take place in our world-class facilities on campus, and also spend the day Current Students from University of Leicester, De Montfort University and Loughborough University as part of the REACH Partnership.
The event is totally free of charge – refreshments and goody bags will be provided.
More information on the programme will be available nearer the event date, please register your interest by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org and please take time to visit our partner Loughborough Universities Inclusive Community page for more information on the widening participation cohorts eligible events.
