This all day workshop will help year 10 students to understand what studying media at university can be like as well as providing an insight into alternative careers within media that aren’t always so apparent. If you’d like to help students understand what studying media is like at university or just give them an insight to the extra-curricular work they can get involved in – this event will be useful.
The morning will focus on giving the students a chance to learn a bit about gender in advertisements and alternative careers within Media. The students will then work in groups to come up with a product to help students at university. There will be student ambassadors to ask questions to and to use as market research and to ask any general questions about University. This will help their researching skills and their ability to work as a team and perhaps even some leaders will emerge.

In the afternoon the students will have a chance to be creative and really bring their product to life. They will get a chance to make their own advert and radio jiggle with our media student groups to help create a pitch to 3 judges, which will help them to build their confidence and public speaking skills. This is a great way to get some hands on experience with two different mediums, radio and TV and ask any questions they may have about university.

If you are interested in attending this event please complete and return the expression of interest form (below) by Monday 21st November – University of Leicester will be in touch on Tuesday 22nd November if you have been allocated spaces and further details to be able to complete your booking.
