Students in Classrooms

Description

This scheme places selected, trained and DBS checked undergraduate students in schools to work with pupils in the classroom supporting their specialist subject area. The scheme offers learning support with whole classes, small groups, special projects etc. and offers a degree of flexibility as the content is agreed between the student and the teacher. Support can be given in the Spring and Summer terms:

  • Spring term: regular weekly visits from early Feb-end of Spring term.
  • Secondary/Post-16 Maths, Physics, English, Geology/Geography, History/Archaeology, Modern Languages & Primary in above subjects.
  • Summer term: block placement of one or two weeks, early June. Most subjects, Primary and Secondary.

Please note our undergraduate students must completeĀ a minimum of 30 hours in school.

Undergraduate students taking part act as positive role models for HE and gain invaluable experience of teaching, often progressing to programmes of ITE. Undergraduates may receive academic credit or other accreditation for this experience.

This scheme provides an opportunity for learning support in specific subject areas, contributing to aspiration and attainment-raising.
